Broome County and Visit Binghamton are excited to highlight the historic, cultural and natural resources of the Broome County Susquehanna Heritage Area during the 2024 June Path Through History Weekend, with events at various locations being held throughout Broome County.

Path Through History Weekends showcase New York State’s rich and fascinating history and feature events at historic and cultural destinations throughout the state.

Several local heritage sites will be holding in-person events and exhibits for Path Through History Weekend. Details for each event can be found on our Path Through History webpage. Information on the Ride-The-Carousel-Circuit open carousels can also be found on our webpage.

Tri-County Farm Trail

When: Spring and Fall (2019 Spring Trail: May 4-5)

The Tri-County Farm Trail gives you a chance to visit farms throughout the eastern Southern Tier. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome, Tioga, and Chenango Counties sponsors the event alongside Senator Fred Akshar.

What You’ll Experience

This event offers so much more than just a farm visit. Here’s what you can enjoy:

  • Meet local farmers face-to-face
  • Get a behind-the-scenes look at working farms
  • Support local businesses
  • Enjoy fresh, local food
  • See adorable farm animals

Broome County Arts Trail

When: June 1-2, 2019

This year marks the launch of the inaugural Broome Art Trail! The Broome County Arts Council created this self-guided tour to showcase local talent.

Explore Art Across the County

This is an excellent way to explore Broome County while discovering incredible artists. The event features:

  • Over 110 artists
  • 53 locations throughout the county
  • Multiple towns: Windsor, Whitney Point, Johnson City, Vestal, Endicott, and Binghamton

You’ll visit diverse art spaces, including:

  • Studio spaces of 20 individual artists
  • Art galleries
  • Museums

Path Through History Weekend

When: June 15-16

The Susquehanna Heritage Area spans Broome and Tioga Counties. It celebrates the rich historic, cultural, and natural diversity of the Southern Tier.

A Statewide Celebration

Path Through History Weekend gives historic and cultural sites across New York State a chance to showcase local history. The Susquehanna Heritage Area hosts many events at heritage sites throughout the region.

Broome County Dozen Hiking Challenge

Launching: Spring 2019

Are you ready for an adventure? A brand-new program launches this spring to get you out on the trails!

A Unique Collaboration

The Broome County Dozen Hiking Challenge is a partnership between the Triple Cities Hiking Club and Go All Out Broome County.

How It Works

The challenge invites you to visit a dozen of Broome County’s finest hiking gems. You’ll explore:

  • State Parks
  • County and Town Parks
  • Natural Areas
  • Nature Preserves managed by local nonprofits and institutions

Complete the Challenge

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Visit each of the 12 locations
  2. Complete the listed challenge at each spot
  3. Hike at your own pace
  4. Register with the Hiking Club when you finish

Once complete, you’ll become an official Broome County Hiking Challenger!

Go Hiking with Go All Out and the Triple Cities Hiking Club!

We’re thrilled to announce an exciting new program! The Triple Cities Hiking Club (TCHC) and Go All Out Broome County have joined forces to bring you something special.

Introducing: The Broome County Dozen Hiking Challenge!


What Is the Challenge?

The Broome County Dozen Hiking Challenge invites you to explore 12 of the finest hiking destinations in Broome County. These aren’t just any trails. They’re carefully selected gems that showcase the natural beauty and diversity of our region.

Where You’ll Hike

Your journey will take you through:

  • State Parks with stunning views
  • County and Town Parks featuring well-maintained trails
  • Natural Areas offering peaceful wilderness experiences
  • Nature Preserves managed by local nonprofits and institutions

Each location offers something unique. From waterfall hikes to scenic overlooks, you’ll discover the best of Broome County’s outdoors.


How It Works

The concept is simple. Anyone can participate, and you complete the challenge at your own pace.

Three Easy Steps

Step 1: Complete the Hikes
Visit each of the 12 identified hiking locations. Complete the specific challenge listed for that spot. Take your time—there’s no deadline!

Step 2: Submit Your Information
Once you’ve finished all 12 hikes, submit your completed hike information to the TCHC. A small administrative fee applies.

Step 3: Receive Your Patch
Congratulations! You’ll receive your official Broome County Dozen Hiking patch. Wear it with pride as proof of your accomplishment.

Winter in Broome

Broome County is a great place to be for some fun in the snow. Visiting our local natural areas in the winter can reveal new sights, sounds and smells, making familiar places into something new to explore. If you are looking to see what winter in Broome has to offer, here are some great ways to Go All Out with some winter fun.

Cross Country Skiing

There are a number of places in Broome County where you can cross-country ski including State Parks, State Forests and County Parks. If you have never tried cross-country skiing before, Greenwood Park is a great place to get started. The park offers ski rentals so you can try it out before you invest in your own pair.
