Broome County and Visit Binghamton are excited to highlight the historic, cultural and natural resources of the Broome County Susquehanna Heritage Area during the 2024 June Path Through History Weekend, with events at various locations being held throughout Broome County.

Path Through History Weekends showcase New York State’s rich and fascinating history and feature events at historic and cultural destinations throughout the state.

Several local heritage sites will be holding in-person events and exhibits for Path Through History Weekend. Details for each event can be found on our Path Through History webpage. Information on the Ride-The-Carousel-Circuit open carousels can also be found on our webpage.

The Kilmer Mansion, 9 Riverside Drive, Binghamton will offer guided tours of the historic mansion at 1 PM on Saturday, June 15th.  Admission: $10 per person.  Register online at https://kilmermansion.org/experience/tours/ . For more information, email: community@kilmermansion.org .

Tis the Season to Go All Out

With a chill in the air, as the snowflakes start flying, there are great opportunities to get out and about with family and friends in the Greater Binghamton area during the holiday season. There is no need to hide inside, ’tis the season to Go All Out!

Celebrate

The holidays are a time when the community comes together and shares in the joy and magic of the season. Lots of Towns and Villages kick things off with a celebratory event that gets everyone in the holiday spirit including festive lights, parades, and caroling. The City of Binghamton and Village of Johnson City gets things going with their annual holiday parades in late November. And the first weekend in December is packed with things to do like Endicott’s Holiday Magic on the Avenue, Kirkwood’s Hometown Christmas, The Fenton Free Library’s Annual Tree Lighting and Vestal’s Christmas Tree Lighting and Family Sing-A-Long.

There are even more holiday themed events. In Binghamton you can also enjoy the annual Ivory Christmas, centered around pianos scattered throughout Downtown playing holiday songs, along with holiday lights and other festive happenings. At Highland Park in Endwell you can enjoy Visions of Christmas in the Park an event featuring  carousel rides, a craft bazaar, hot cocoa, live reindeer, pony cart rides, and a wood carving demonstration. Spring is the season of new beginnings where the world comes alive and you feel excited to get out and explore your community. This is definitely the case in Binghamton, all of Broome County, and our neighboring areas, where opportunites to discover new places and activities are as abundant as the fresh blooms.

While Go All Out Broome County is always a great resource for finding outdoor adventures in our area, if you are looking to try new things or discover new places, some local spring “Trails” can serve as your guide. These special events and programs can serve as an introduction to some new spots for you to try or provide a new perspective on old favorites.

Winter in Broome

Broome County is a great place to be for some fun in the snow. Visiting our local natural areas in the winter can reveal new sights, sounds and smells, making familiar places into something new to explore. If you are looking to see what winter in Broome has to offer, here are some great ways to Go All Out with some winter fun.

Cross Country Skiing

There are a number of places in Broome County where you can cross-country ski including State Parks, State Forests and County Parks. If you have never tried cross-country skiing before, Greenwood Park is a great place to get started. The park offers ski rentals so you can try it out before you invest in your own pair. 2018 Fairs Field Days and Bazaars

The sights, sounds and tastes of summer fairs bring back a sense of nostalgia for growing up in Broome County. How can you NOT feel good thinking about riding the rides, eating cotton candy and popcorn, and gathering with friends and family for a fireworks spectacular?

The good news is that you can still get that feeling with many fairs, field days and bazaars all summer long (with a few other events thrown in too).
